MAYURESHWAR
'The Peacock Rider. The Slayer of Sindhu.'
The Ancient Legend
Victory Over
The Demon Sindhu
According to the Ganesha Purana, the demon Sindhu terrorized the three worlds with a bowl of nectar (Amrit) that made him immortal. To save the universe, Ganesha descended on a Peacock (Mayur). In a fierce battle here at Morgaon, he shattered the bowl and slew the demon, earning the name Mayureshwar.
