The Divine Power

Vishnu's Victory
Over Demons

Legend says that while fighting the demons Madhu and Kaitabha, Lord Vishnu found he couldn't defeat them. Lord Shiva reminded him to pray to Ganesha first. Vishnu performed penance on this hillock (Siddhatek), and Ganesha granted him the Siddhi (power) to slay the demons. Thus, the idol is known as Siddhivinayak.

"The Journey of the Hillock"

Devotees perform a unique Pradakshina (Circumambulation) around the entire hillock where the temple stands. This path is roughly 1 km (earlier around 5 km). It is believed that walking this path barefoot grants the devotee their deepest wishes.
